After a long month of no racing, Garett finally got released from his doctor to go racing. Goodwin and the Hansen crew showed up to Illiana Motor Speedway to surprise is fellow competitors. During practice, Garett was having trouble with the left front brake locking up. Every time he would get on the brakes, the car would shoot up the track due to the brake locking up. Garett tried adding some rear brake into the car before qualifying started but it didn't help at all. However, Garett ended up qualifying in the 2nd position out of the 13 car field. The heat race came and Goodwin was ready to try some new braking techniques. As the heat was coming to an end, Garett got hit and spun out with 2 laps to go causing him to finish 5th. Feature time came and that #29 Hansen Motorsports/K1 Race Gear Legends Car was rolling off in the 5th position. As the green flag waved, Goodwin was set on a mission to the front. As lap 2 comes along, it didn't take long for that #29 machine to be up front. Goodwin lead about 10 laps before the brakes started acting up causing Garett to lose the top spot over his fellow teammate, Matt O'Leary. With 4 laps to go, Garett and the leader were over 3 seconds in front of the 3rd place car. As the caution came out, that bunched the field back into single file. As the green flag came out, the left front brake locked up going into turn one causing Goodwin to lose the 2nd position. Garett was able to pull off a 3rd place finish as the checkered flag waved.
"The car was real fast, but with having brake issues, I couldn't get the car into the corner like how I wanted to", said Goodwin. "I'm really proud of the car Hansen Motorsports gave me, and for having a month off of racing, I'm really happy with our finish".
