Garett and the Hansen crew showed up to Illiana Motor Speedway this past Saturday on July 24th. The #29 machine was fast in both practices but needed some changes before qualifying. As Garett goes out for his qualifying session, mother nature surprised everybody with a little bit of rain, just enough to wash some of the rubber away. However, Goodwin ended up qualifying 3rd out of the 18 car field. Goodwin would start in the 8th position out of the 10 car field for the heat race. Garett got shuffled back to 10th place but when the checkered flag dropped, that #29 machine ended up finishing in the 6th position. The #29 Hansen Motorsports/K1 Race Gear Legends Car would roll off in the 8th position for the feature event. Green flag waved and Goodwin was on a mission to the front. As Garett was passing for the 4th position, the other car got tangled up with Garett causing him to get sent to the back. Garett ran out of time but was able to pull off another top 10 finish with a 10th place finish. That was Garett's last race in a Legends Car due to health issues. The doctors have told Garett that he should not race until he gains more weight. He has lost over 10 pounds in the past couple weeks. He will be trying to sell his car and try to earn enough money to pay for the new ride for the 2011 race season.
"We had a great car for the feature but just ended up with bad luck at the end. It's sad to see us not in Victory Lane for my last race in a Legends Car, but we will accept a top 10 finish.
