FIRST RACE OF SEASON FOR GOODWIN BEGINS ON DIRT
THREE OAKS, MICHIGAN – August 16th, 2016 - It has been a long off-season for Garett and the race team since his last race at the Dells Raceway Park in October. He captured his best career finish of 3rd in the Late Model Division. After the season ended, the team had purchased a new Lefthander Chassis frame to build in the off-season for Garett to race at the Dells in 2016. However right before the car was finished for the season opener, Garett’s best friend and Crew Chief, Tom McCardle, passed away. This has been a long and tough road for the Goodwin and McCardle family. Since then, Garett decided to put the Late Model team on hold and continue finishing the 600 Non-Winged Micro Sprint Car that they had purchased in 2014.
Concept Chassis helped get the car prepared for Garett’s first race whenever he decided he was ready to be back behind the wheel. Now that that the car is finished, Goodwin is set to race August 20th at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana. However he won’t be piloting the #29…
“My number has been #29 for the 15 years of my racing career, but I have decided to retire that number and run the #83 in honor of my best friend and crew chief Tom McCardle,” stated Goodwin, “I want to thank my parents, Aleah Maurice, and everyone else for their support through this hard time and pushing me to get back behind the wheel of a car.”
