GOODWIN OVERCOMES STRUGGLES AT SHOWDOWN FOR TOP TEN

WISCONSIN DELLS, WI - September 25 & 26, 2015 - It was a long weekend for Garett and the team for the 4th Annual September Showdown at the Dells. Friday night didn't go well for the team after a disappointing run in Qualifying, placing him 19th out of 23 drivers. Starting near the tail of the field for the 40 lap Non-Winner Feature race, Garett was set on cruise control trying to conserve his equipment for the long race. However on lap 9, a car near the front of the pack got spun causing a big pile up in turns 3 and 4 leaving Garett with no where to go. Garett had to limp the car off the track with heavy damage to the right side of the car.

Garett and Crew Chief, Tom McCardle, left the track at 2:30 AM to head back to the race shop to get parts for the car so they would be able to race the big 75 lapper on Saturday night. After driving all night and getting back to the track at 6:30 AM, the team worked their tails off to get the car all done for the big show that night. The team wasn't sure how the car would handle after the hard hit the night before so they were just hoping to get through the race with no incidents. Rolling off the grid in the 13th position for the 75 lap Feature, Garett was pretty confident that he had a good car for the race. He knew however, that he had to be conservative and not use up his tires.

As the laps on the board kept counting going down, Goodwin was on a mission to the front. He told McCardle under the first caution that the car felt like a rocket ship and that they could be a contender for the win. A late in the race caution came out, which put Garett restarting 7th with only 6 laps to go. When the green flag dropped, Garett was able to get underneath the 5th place car as they raced down the backstretch but just couldn't complete the pass and ended up taking the checkered flag in the 6th position.

"I'm so proud of this team and the run that we had tonight", says Goodwin, "The car was just a rocket ship tonight and we really needed this good finish after the night we had last night."
