Garett and the JET Motorsports crew traveled to the Wisconsin Dells again for another night of racing at the Dells Raceway Park. The car was pretty good right off of the hauler, but could always use more improvement. Garett said that the car was a little tight through the center of the corner, so the crew made a few adjustments before qualifying. Qualifying 11th fastest got Goodwin into the show for the Saturday night event.
Rolling off the 2nd position for the Heat race, Garett battled for the lead for the first five laps and was able to pick up his first career Late Model heat win! For the feature, Goodwin took the green flag in the 2nd position. Right from the start, Garett lost radio communication with his spotter due to his radio dying. After the second caution came out, Garett had time to pull into the pits to exchange radios.
After pulling into the pits, Goodwin had to start at the tail of the field. About 25 out of the 40 lap feature remained on the board, the #29 Performance Parts Supply Late Model made its way through the pack and was able to pull off an 11th place finish.
"I am very pleased with the results we got today," says Goodwin, "We made a lot of improvement from our first two races…we were able to pick up a heat win tonight and capture a solid finish in the feature. This was the motivation we needed. I couldn't be more proud of this team."
Garett's next race will be in the Super Late Model at Illiana Motor Speedway on August 9th.
