Peru, IN – The Garett Goodwin Racing Team took on back-to-back nights of racing this past weekend, facing challenges and showing grit on both Friday and Saturday.
Friday night at Miami County Raceway, Garett Goodwin qualified 7th in his group and lined up 3rd for the heat race. But as soon as the green flag dropped, trouble struck. The power steering went out, making the car tough to handle, and Garett fought his way to a 9th-place finish. After the race, the team discovered a loose power wire had disconnected from the switch.
That issue forced Garett to start deep in the pack—15th in the B Main. Determined to move forward, he drove up to 10th. With the track offering only one fast groove, Garett tried making a bold move on the outside. It didn’t stick, and he crossed the line in 12th, ending the night earlier than planned.
On Saturday, the team headed to US 24 Speedway in Logansport, Indiana, for night two. Garett qualified 9th fastest in his group, but severe thunderstorms rolled in, washing out the rest of the evening’s racing.
Through it all, the team stayed positive and grateful. A huge thank you to our engine builder, Brian Teike from Teike Engines, for making the trip both nights to crew chief for the 83 car.
